Terms of Service

Last updated May 12, 2026.

Welcome to Tetrad — a note editor that lives on top of your GitHub account. By using the service, you agree to these terms.

The service is operated by an individual, Shkurko Daniil(the “Operator”, “we”).

What is Tetrad

Tetrad is a web application for creating and editing notes in Markdown. The defining property of the service is that all your notes are stored in your own GitHub repositories, which Tetrad accesses through a GitHub App installation that you authorize.

Accepting these terms

By clicking “Sign in with GitHub” and using the service, you confirm that:

  • You are at least 13 years old. If you live in the European Union, you are at least 16 years old, or you use the service with the consent of a parent or legal guardian.
  • You have read and agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy.
  • You use the service at your own risk and in compliance with the laws of your country.

Your account

  • Your Tetrad account is tied to your GitHub account. We do not store passwords.
  • You are responsible for the security of your GitHub account, including using strong credentials and enabling two-factor authentication.
  • You can revoke Tetrad's access through your GitHub App settings, or delete your account from Tetrad's settings, at any time.

Using the service

What you may do

  • Create, edit, and delete notes.
  • Upload images to illustrate your notes.
  • Connect any number of GitHub repositories as workspaces.
  • Share public links to pages you publish.

What you may not do

  • Upload material that violates applicable law, including child sexual abuse material, content inciting violence, or extremist propaganda.
  • Use the service for spam, phishing, or distribution of malware.
  • Attempt to disrupt the service, bypass its security mechanisms, or conduct unauthorized load or penetration testing.
  • Use the service for activity that infringes on the intellectual property rights of others.
  • Create multiple accounts in order to circumvent restrictions applied to a previous one.

Your content

  • You retain full ownership of everything you create in Tetrad. We claim no rights to your content.
  • Your notes are physically stored in your GitHub repositories. We do not make copies of your content on our servers, and we do not share it with third parties.
  • When you publish a page and share a link to it, you understand that the page becomes publicly accessible at that URL until you unpublish it.

Service provided “as is”

Tetrad is provided “AS IS”, without warranties of any kind. To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law:

  • We do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free operation of the service.
  • We are not liable for loss of data in your GitHub repositories, although we make reasonable efforts to protect against data loss (for example, through client-side autosave).
  • We are not liable for damages arising from your use of the service.

We recommend that you regularly verify your important notes are saved in your GitHub repository.

Availability and changes

  • We may change the functionality of the service at any time, add or remove features.
  • We may temporarily suspend the service for maintenance or technical work.
  • We may introduce paid tiers in the future. Any such change will not retroactively affect features you have already used, and we will notify users in advance.

As of the effective date of this document, the service is provided entirely for free.

Ending your use of the service

By you

You may, at any time:

  • Delete your account from Tetrad's settings.
  • Revoke the GitHub App's access from your GitHub settings.

After you delete your account, your notes remain in your GitHub repositories — we do not delete them.

By us

We reserve the right to block an account or stop providing the service to a specific user in case of:

  • A violation of these Terms.
  • Use of the service for unlawful purposes.
  • Actions that threaten the security or stability of the service for other users.

In these cases, your content still remains in your GitHub repositories — we only stop providing you access to the Tetrad interface.

Intellectual property

  • The name “Tetrad”, the logo, the interface design, and the application source code belong to the Operator.
  • The content of your notes belongs to you.

Changes to these terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. For material changes, we will notify users through the service interface or by email. Continued use of the service after changes take effect constitutes your acceptance of the updated Terms.

Governing law and disputes

These Terms are not tied to the jurisdiction of any specific country and are drafted with regard to commonly accepted international practices. In the event of any disagreement, the parties shall first seek to resolve the matter amicably through correspondence at app@tetrad.me.
